@Murphy569

It's a strange thing that this is not an option that can be set on the table style. I'm in the same situation as @peacetype . We've got a document that is almost done, and now the customer doesn't want the headers to be repeated at all.
Setting the header rows to 0 (suggested above) actually deletes those rows, so that is not an option for an existing table, only when building tables from scratch.

To change header rows into body rows and keep the cell data of the rows, you need to select the row, right-click and select "Convert to Body Rows".

I'm more of a software guy than a designer, but I've done some design in the past and got talked into doing a print job for a charity.

I was wondering if anyone was aware of a utility to make a printable map from a Google Map? I suspect someone has built an interface somewhere that lets you create a map with markers and icons, and can be easily output to a printable format (PDF or whatever)?

Thanks for any ideas

@Murphy569

As per your drawing, the inner ring outer diameter is either exactly the same as the outer ring inner diameter or is slightly smaller.

Because of this characteristic, you will not be able to interchange Ring A segments with Ring B segments.

If this is an unacceptable answer, please consider that the parameters of your question have to be adjusted appropriately.

@Murphy569

Gosh, usually when I have an issue like this in illustrator (and I have the time) I'll dupe the file and delete assets one at a time and see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes I start with broader strokes (delete whole groups, etc).

I wonder if this could have anything to do with how the assets are grouped?

Also, when you align to selection or artboard does it behave normally?

@Murphy569

I didn't have an SVG file of the USA with each county being a different object, but found a map of the USA with each state being a different object.

When I opened that file in a text editor, I was able to see the individual path IDs that are part of the file.

Unfortunately, I'm not a script wizard, but I suspect that someone with reasonably simple scripting skills would be able to parse the path IDs for your document.

If it was a one-off project, you could manually edit the file by deleting everything else, although every county in every state in the USA would be rather excessive.

I have a macro program that I would use, creating a simple "manual" editing script, turning a tedious process into a brute force process instead.

I suspect that if one were skilled in Python, the process would be even simpler.

Using: Shift + Command + 4 you can make a selection.

If the dada is in Clipboard you can open the clipboard viewer, select the data (could be an image or whatever), click the button Save data and it will be saved in a folder. Now you can access it.

I need to export a PDF/X-3:2002, but it seems there is only X-1a and X-3:2003. Right?

X-3:2003 doesn't converts my bitmaps to CMYK, it remains in the PDF as sRGB.
X-1a:2003 does convert my bitmaps to CMYK, but it also converts embedded PDF files (both vectors, a QR code and the logo) to rasterized images.

What I want is convert everything to CMYK, but keep vectors as vectors. It was plain easy with Illustrator, but AD seems to lack a lot of PDF export features.

@Murphy569

One great way to see the difference between one image quality and the other while actively adjusting various parameters is available within Photoshop by using the 'Save for Web' option Option + Shift + Command + S. This allows you to see the original image side by side in either a 2-up or 4-up view, while you change the image type, quality, or size in the same task.

You can also just see the original image alone on screen, which has additional data below that will show file size and load time based on modem speed, hopefully this will show the data you need for the new codec compared to an older JPG

 query : Re: InDesign: Text Won't Justify Center Vertically I've tried going to text frame options in this preset template and it won't let me change it to center for vertical justification. How do I fix

@Murphy569

Make sure to either click with the cursor within the textbox or select it with your Selection Tool (V) prior. Use Command + B on a mac to activate the text frame options:

Vertical alignment options are also available in the top menu bar as three horizontal line icons.

Since you mention it is a template you are working on, one other cause of not being able to edit the text box could be that it is locked as a master page element. You may need to change the text box on the master page itself, not within the document pages.

You can also unlock the element on a document page if the master item is set up to allow overrides by holding command + shift when you click on the element, or Option + Shift + command + L to unlock all master page elements

@Murphy569

I did not find the solution to my problem, but a suitable workaround.

As Scott suggested, a clipping mask applied to the aerial photograph did indeed get rid of the unwanted line at the bottom of the image frame.

Just to explain why I originally used a white fill compound path to hide unwanted parts of the photograph: I wanted to have the ability to show the surroundings of the area by toggling the compound path layer on and off in InDesign. In order to retain that ability I duplicated the photograph layer, left the original layer intact and applied the clipping mask only to the duplicate. So now, in order to switch between the full map and the cut-out, instead of toggling the compound path on and off, I switch between the two map layers.

Thanks for the suggestions!

@Murphy569

Your text, at an inch high, is not small. It only appears as such, because your document is large – shockingly so. I estimate it to be around 55.6x35 inch (141x89 cm), which seems total overkill.

Presumably you did not check your ruler units when entering your desired size.

So far I have tried multiple font identification sites but none gave a satisfactory result. Neue Haas Grotesk is the font that I've found so far to be the closest.

For me, the following things are important:

The leg of the "R" is straight
the dot on the "i" is round
the ends of the "s" and "S" are fully or almost horizontal

I have a Photoshop action which batch resizes a load of png files. It loads the png which is 5400x4500, it then resizes the canvas to 5400x4050, then File -> Automate -> Fit Image to 5400x4050, and then centres it.

This works great, however it needs a script to resize the canvas, as for some reason using an action to do this uses percentages rather than actual pixels.

Is there anyway on my batch, I can ask get it to ask the user for the location to the JSX file, which is then used in every batch action from then on?

The options are many, however the very first option I selected from a Google search for "free GIF editor" returned a program called ezgif, an online resource with multiple features.

My test involved uploading a canned GIF from my computer and entering suitable changes. The results were acceptable. One can't expect "spectacular" or "astonishing" considering the constraints of the GIF format developed in 1987(!) and limited to 256 colors (per frame) which is not as restrictive as I first thought.

InDesign will let you know if a file has been updated or if it is missing within the links panel, but will not tell you where a missing link has gone to.
You can avoid this by packaging your file, this collects all links and fonts together within one folder, then if you move the project folder all associated files are moved alongside it.

@Murphy569

Two possible reasons could be these:

Have you already attempted to click on the layer and open 'layer options' and checked to see if the 'print' box is checked?

Have you checked the file to ensure you have no overprints turned on on that artwork that is not showing up? this should be under the 'Appearance' window, but you may need to check each element individually, as it will only showcase the items that have had it selected, not necessarily a group of items. A quick glance that may help is to turn on and off the view option 'overprint preview'. If the image changes slightly (darkens/lightens in parts) this is the likely cause.
