@Rivera951

First question. Are you employed by your boss and the company? Not 'freelance' but rather a full-time employee? If full-time then the fault would technically be on the company but you can possible be a fall guy and get fired. If freelance, then you can possible be sued as well.

Second are you documenting the conversation via email with him in regards to asking him if the images are legal to us and his responses? If you are, at least you have a little proof in the event they try to put on you. You're boss will totally cover his own ass if push came to shove. The email chain can stop that in its tracks.

This is by no means legal advice, just wisdom from previous jobs. Good luck!

I need some guidance with the following problem-
I have a table of huge data which looks somewhat like the diagram below:

The folders contain the number of files present in the folder and the values may even range to billions.
The values are in real time.

What would be the best way to represent all this data in such a way that it's easily understandable by the user? I only have limited knowledge of data visualization techniques and am not sure which way of representing it would be the best way.

Cheers!

I looked up profiles like Target and there logo looks pixelated too so I am thinking it might just be desktop vs mobile??

Thanks!

Oh that's so strange...at work I am on a PC but at home I am on a Mac (I don't have retina display) and I still see it a little fuzzy. So maybe that's why.

This is the link to the 640 x 640 png file. I am able to upload a png to Instagram through my phone.

Found this itstillworks.com/12597955/how-to-add-bleed-marks-to-inkscape which says:

Click the "Extensions" menu, hover over "Render" and select the "Printing Marks..." option to open the Printing Marks window.

Ensure the check boxes labeled "Crop Marks" and "Bleed Marks" are checked.

But I don't have such a menu in Inskscape 0.92, Ubuntu 14.04?

@Rivera951

Take a black ink pen that gives a lot of ink and write the signature several times on white paper.

Select the best signature and take a pic with your phone or digital camera, well lit, from within 1 foot.

Open it in photoshop and adjust levels or isolate color channels until you get one that looks very contrasty and crisp.
Use this to mask out the signature.

Save as your favorite file type.

I like it. Like others have said, your parameters are a bit vague, so it's difficult to be sure, but it is nicely composed and not cluttered, which gives a sense of calmness, and the CTA at the bottom using stats and real photography gives a sense of professionalism. Duplicate the Object (Ctrl+D)
Enter "Edit by paths" (Key F2)
Select a rectangular region of the nodes by holding the Shift Key and selecting with the mouse
Invert the selection of nodes using Alt+!
Press Del to remove the unwanted nodes.

If you don't manage to select all nodes in one rect, just keep holding the Shift key to add another rectangular selection of nodes to the already selected ones.

Yes you can set it up yourself, by making the tabbed pages wider by a set length and drawing a guideline at the fold.

It's better and easier if you start with a template. Your printing service may have templates for folding page booklets.

There are many document booklet templates available online, someone even come in InDesign files.

 query : Re: Should I focus on dimensions or proportions, when creating a logo? I am currently in the process of creating a logo for myself, within Photoshop. I know many may say that using Illustrator

@Rivera951

Proportions are a key consideration in logo design and any design.

Favicons and other icons should be squarish. Squarish allows balanced integration into many layouts. Icon holders are square. If you don't fill the square there will be blank space. A favicon is very small without a lot of room to spare. That is why I recommend a square-ish shape for your logo.

The three uses you mention can all use a square-ish logo

A logo in a banner may be wider, or even tall and narrow. Remember proportion and shape convey meaning and affect balance.

Wide and flat shapes lend a feel of relaxed and heavy, static. Tall and narrow is more exciting and noticeable, but may feel tense or top heavy.

It's possible your logo needs to be much wider than it is tall. That won't make a good favicon.

Once you have your design you can produce versions at a few different dimensions. Basically the same design with increasing levels of detail. Dimensions, or final size, is more a technical consideration that does not come into play until its time to generate large or small images, at which point you may modify your original art to suit the dimensions, adding or subtracting detail.

@Rivera951

Generally unless an engraving font fits the situation, the best way to do this is still to draw the bezier curve with the Pen Tool.

A method that might help is to offset the path of your outlined text (Object Menu > Path > Offset Path). By setting the offset distance to a negative value that is a little under half the weight of the character, you will get lines roughly through the center that can be used as guides. If the font characters vary in weight, you may want to do this a few times at various offset values.

 query : Re: RGB to CMYK with best results I'm currently designing a mockup for print but unfortunately the logo extends some colors that are only available in RGB. I was trying to convert a pretty agressive

@Rivera951

When you send anything to print that is in the RGB color space, the printer driver will ultimately need to convert your document to CYMK to tell the printer how much Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Black ink to lay down on the page.

Therefore due to variances in how different printer models (and therefore drivers) make this conversion, it's impossible to know how colors will look once printed if the printer is given color information not in the CMYK space. For instance, a printer with only 4 colors might interpret a bright green in one way, but a printer with 6 or 8 colors might produce a much more different looking result. Some very high end printers night even have dedicated Red Green and Blue inks to mitigate this color space problem, and provide more color gamut when printing from RGB files.

With all of that in mind, when you convert from RGB to CMYK it's not uncommon to see a drop in brightness and vibrance of color as programs like Photoshop want to ensure more consistent results across different printers models due the more limited gamut of the CMYK color space. If color vibrancy is something you're interested in achieving, you should consult with your printer to determine how to best reproduce certain colors. Some printers also make use of the Pantone Matching System (PMS) to ensure correct color results. You can find Pantone swatches in both Photoshop and Illustrator that are designed for accurate color reproduction in the CMYK space.

@Rivera951

Also note that the gradient in your source image will look different in CMYK than in RGB. If you intend to print the design, this won't matter. But deep indigo & fuchsia tones are more drab in CMYK. So if you are having trouble recreating the exact colors in the yellow gradient, this may be good to know.

You can change which color space you work in via File > Document Color Mode.

 query : Re: How to invert text color with respect to background in Illustrator? I'm trying to create an image having text of color half black and other half white. But how?

@Rivera951

Set the Blend Mode of your text items to Difference in the Transparency palette. Change the text color to white. You'll probably notice the white doesn't change to black in the "white" space. That's because it's actually not white, but transparent instead (Ctrl+Shift+D makes this easy to see). If you add a white background behind the white text, it will change to black again.

This will work even if the text has been rasterized into an image.

EDIT: Sorry, I did not realize the above only works in an RGB Document. To do the same thing in a CMYK Document, it's a little different. Change the black background to white & Difference, then move it in front of the text.

@Rivera951

Similar to garment manufacturing, you must figure out how your shape will translate to a flat, 2D design.

Your example above can be designed with a circle for the top and a rectangle for the side.

When it comes time to wrap the flat image to the 3D shape you will need more info from the manufacturer about how the label machine prints the graphics. In the above example it may accept a circle and a rectangle separately and apply them to the cartridge, or it may require a radial shape that has the side printing distorted out into a large flat circle.

So on your own you can make the file by figuring out how the shape will translate to 2D, or go to the printer and ask them what shape or template is used to achieve this.

To preview or demo your graphics applied to the 3D shape you can use Illustrator extrude to make the cartridge and then map your label graphic around it.

Say you scroll to a point on the screen, and you touch down on a button that's supposed to animate new buttons up onto the screen. For example, on Tumblr if you long-press the reblog button on tumblr, your account icon pops up. You don't have to be at a specific point on the screen/feed in order to do this. I want to re-create this exact animation.

Is there a way to do this without knowing the user's exact scroll position? I'm able to accomplish the animation by determining the scroll position myself, but the animation in that case can only occur if the user touches down on the button at that specific scroll position. I want the user to be able to experience the animation when they press down on the button at any scroll position, and not have to predetermine the position in order for it work. I hope that makes sense.

A white background that won't go away sounds like a rastered image problem.

If you can select the paths you need you can copy them to a new file.

When you open the .pdf in illustrator can you select the white background? It may be that objects "above" it are blocking the selection. Try locking, moving or deleting other objects until you can select the white background and delete it.

Lock or hide the sub layers until you isolate the white background.

If after you've isolated the white background you find that is it attached to other objects and they can't be ungrouped, expanded or taken apart than those are rastered together and you've got to

trace them, divide and delete white background
recreate them new or
ask the person for a proper image file

.PDFs opened in illustrator are a mass of clipping masks, invisible rectangles are attached to many objects. If a small object has a large selection area you know it's attached to an invisible rectangle. Select each and every thing, right click and "release clipping mask", delete all the invisible rectangles.

If the image is a vector path you can use Object>Transform>Scale and do not check the box "Scale stroke and effects", the border will stay the same width.

Or, if it is a vector path, you can take the white arrow tool and select all the points on the left half and slide them to the right, making the frame narrower and keeping border the same thickness.

If the frame is a fixed rastered image file like .jpg than you should copy half the frame, paste it in place, slide it away to make the frame bigger:
