@Tiffany637

Posted in: #ClickTracking #Nofollow #RobotsTxt #SpamBlocker

I have a website where I create ads for clients. They are not Adwords or similar, they are custom ads I create. All ad links go through a count-clicker before being sent to the advertiser's url (ex. example.com/countclicks.cfm?adid=671). I'm trying to figure out the best way to block any bot from "clicking" on the ads to prevent false click-through counts.

In addition, it would be NICE if the advertiser can still get SEO link value as our website has a high Page Rank, which is why I'd rather not use "nofollow". This would be lovely but my first priority is to get rid of the "fake" clicks by bots.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

My website is powered by MediaWiki Version 1.29.1.

Sometimes the Recent Changes results page becomes cluttered with spam articles that I wish to hide from the results page. How can I allow specific users to hide them?

Keep in mind, I don't need spam protection and I only need to know how to hide spam articles from the results page.

 query : Do Child Categories have any influence on Parent Categories, when it comes to SEO/SERP? I am currently working on a WordPress e-commerce website, where the chosen shopping platform is WooCommerce.

@Tiffany637

Posted in: #Seo #Sitemap #SiteStructure

I am currently working on a WordPress e-commerce website, where the chosen shopping platform is WooCommerce.

I am in the early stages of planning, where I am currently focusing on the overall site architecture.

Naturally, I will want the website to compete within search engines. With this in mind, I will be wanting to get my site structure set up as effective as possible.

With this in mind, I am just wondering if Child Product Categories have any effect/influence on Parent Categories? Both their SERP and associated Keywords.

Let's say I have the following Parent and Child Categories (Within each of the Child Categories, I have inserted a few Keywords):

Parent Category:

Eye Wear

Child Categories:

Sun Glasses:

Glasses
Red Sun Glasses
Blue Sun Glasses

Reading Glasses:

Glasses
Cheap Reading Glasses
Expensive Reading Glasses

With all things being equal, 'Reading Glasses' should rank higher for 'Expensive Reading Glasses' than 'Sun Glasses'. Where my query lies, is that since 'Reading Glasses' is placed within 'Eye Wear', therefore example.com/eyewear/reading-glasses, will the 'Eye Wear' Parent Category benefit from the fact that it's Child Category is competing successfully for 'Expensive Reading Glasses'?

In other words, would the Parent Category being able to tell the search engines:

Hey, I am about Glasses. Not only is my page about Glasses but I have Child Categories about Glasses too!

I should add that I will be sure to include Breadcrumbs on each Page. Therefore, 'automatic' link juice will be sent through the Directories, regardless of whether I insert a link to the Parent Categories, within the content itself.

Note: The above is just an example for the purpose of this question. It is not based on any Keyword research.

@Tiffany637

no, this is not a wordpress issue. You need to open a tab incognito and navigate to your domain url after waiting 24 - 48 hours for the DNS records to propagate. This will insure google isn't using cached data to push you over to the site.

If that doen't work, you need to show us what your DNS records look like (without sensitive info of course), so that we can better diagnose your issue.

1. Page A is removed , you can find the content in Page B (or,)
2. Page A has not a good content, so I am redirecting you to Page B.

Thing from User perspective. Giving a needful content is valuable.

About rel=canonical:

you are instructing google to rank the page C than Page A, Page B because you thought ranking Page C is good and it has original content related to the keyword. Thats all

@Tiffany637

I have been using AdWords for one year. It was going smoothly and we were receiving good result from AdWords.

Two months ago we rearranged the AdWords for better optimization by pausing the campaign which we had been using for a long time and created two more campaigns that arranged the keywords hoping for better results. We didn't change anything other than separating the campaigns. Since then we have not been receiving no inquiries for our firm from the ads. Even after waiting for two months, there has been no improvement.

Are there known problems with pausing a working campaign and splitting it into two new campaigns?

I am unable to find the proper setup of DNS records with URL Redirect service for a basic web server where:

Any URL with Example.com should go to server with IPv4 number 1.2.3.4
Any URL for example.com or Example.com should be replaced with a URL of Example.com.

I do not really understand forwarding versus redirecting. What I want is to transform any "example.com" request to a "www.Example.com" request (always using the 'www', and not respecting the naked 'example.com').

No other services rendered on this server except the web server (and ping etc.). So no concern about email servers, FTP servers, etc.
Sites will have TLS security certificates engaged.

Should it be:

Type: A Record

Host: @
Value: 1.2.3.4
TTL: Automatic

Type: CNAME Record

Host: www
Value: example.com
TTL: Automatic

Type: URL Redirect Record

Host: @
Value: www.Example.com/ Unmasked

@Tiffany637

I run a high search-engine-ranked e-commerce operation.

We started doing retail with the first site, but have now had to build a second site for wholesale.

Many of the retail products are offered on the second site, and so they share the same titles, images, descriptions, and other details.

I am staying away from using the same description, as that seems like it might be wrongly interpreted as duplicate content.

My question is.

Would the same alt tag, for the same image, on the same product, on 2 different sites be penalized as duplicate content towards either site?

Is there any downside to redirecting the root domain and the www subdomain to a subdomain of my choice?

For example, redirecting smith.com and smith.com to john.smith.com.

I was talking to someone who works in SEO about doing this and they said that I would lose page authority - but I can't beleive that would be true as long as I implemented it properly with a 301 (permanent) redirect. Then again, when I googled it I found an answer here on webmasters where someone commented a similar thing (though it hasn't been given any positive or negative votes).

I am planning to launch a new website targeting the country I am based in. Webhosting here is very expensive and for what you pay in other places for a dedicated server you will get the shared hosting deal of 2005 here.

Since I have reasonably fast internet at home I am considering to host the website on a small server here by using dynamic DNS.

The opinions on this and SEO don't seem to be so clear, so I am wondering if I would have to expect any serious negative effects in terms of search rankings through this?

No, that is not the absolute only correct way to indicate a paginated series of pages to search engines.

According to the HTML specification for the anchor tag, the rel attribute is valid on anchor tags, so you could do it the way you have in your second example.

Posted in: #301Redirect #Domains #Godaddy #Seo

I'm trying to use GoDaddy's 301 redirect, which is named as domain forwarding. I set up forwarding DomainA.com to DomainB.com as 301 type.

I noticed DomainA.com is still indexed in Google after ~6 months, and it has a title in SERP of DomainB.com. When I click it on Google or visit in browser, it redirects to DomainB.com, so everything is fine from UX perspective.

I've inspected DomainA.com with www.webconfs.com/redirect-check.php tool and found out, that DomainA.com/ actually redirects to DomainA.com/MmSWZ/. And then this URL supposedly redirects to DomainB.com. What is that?

If I check again few minutes later on the same tool, then I see DomainA.com/ redirects to DomainA.com/MpppZ/, so it's a unique random middle-man URL every single time it seems.

I'm sure it's bad for SEO. How do I fix it?

@Tiffany637

Please Add privacy policy to your website. It will increase your ranking. Don't take advice from people who are able to rank in the top ten pages on difficulty keywords as well, and also don't trust 100% of what Google says for truth.

They earn billions on ad space. So, why would they give away the algorithm?
Also, comments pertaining to overthinking means you're going the right direction and leaving your competitors in the dust! Keep going this direction, and never look back. Anyone commenting otherwise is simply using this blog as a means to build link juice back to their profile account.

Why, you may ask? Because they understand that sending a URL with the word SEO in it to their account, and that juice sends to their website. You are starting to see how the comments with no insights are left in the billions on websites such as this and others! This is another form of affecting your SEO too.

Always consider the grain of salt being people understand these types of chats exist, they surf for it and put misinformation to cause the community to build bad SEO strategies or poorly based opinions with zero data to back it up.

Building trust with users, and Google, both play into your google analytics bounce rate and other things like session count.

Not only does it help your google rank across every URL, but it also increases your domain authority not only with scores - but also with humans too.

Also, ranking a key phrase of 'Your company name+Privacy+Policy' would increase the pages you're indexing, which increases your rank - Google also pointed out this Katamari effect of ranking more and more pages pick up more and more keywords and guess what - that ranking across all those keywords will increase.

Now - this isn't to say - go spam out a bunch of content on your website. That's what News companies do and this spreads their URL rating out from an 'internet parent/child' or category perspective. You can do that, it works for some companies, like Wikipedia.

I have 2 x domain names

www.example.com - This is my main site. www.example-liverpool.com

This is my Liverpool sub website example.com/liverpool I've presently got URL forwarding from example-liverpool.com to the above URL, but as it was in a frame, the responsive nature of the sub site is crap! I've now switched off the forwarding stealth (frame) and waiting for it to replicate.

Now for my question. Is there a way of using the .htaccess file so that when I open example-liverpool.com to open the /liverpool page that it can display the example-liverpool.com URL and not the example.com one?

This is not a spoofing question, reason I want to do this is that the main website is a national organisation that are finding it difficult to get funding for. Having created a sub domain /liverpool means I can apply for local funding. Having the local domain name being displayed shows that we are local. Is what I'm asking possible?

Both domains are the same organisation.

The Fetch as Google runs without problems, the Index Status shows: 0 total index, there are no Blocked Resources, there's a Site Map on site fully configured and the robots.txt has the following contents:

User-agent: *

Finally a request to index the root URL and its direct links was made on July 12th, but there are no signs to show if it has finalized or not.

@Tiffany637

Posted in: #Net #Resources #Seo

I am currently managing a .net website that is mulilingual supporting 10 languages, expected to be 16 by the end of the year. This is handled by utilising resource files (resx) and the website accessing the corresponding resx file for the given language based on locale or user selection of language. This is great as we maintain one version of a web page without having to recreate for many other languages. However, the down side seems to be in terms of SEO we are missing out. I am not sure how accessible the resx key/values are to search engines in different languages. I have seen recommendations to use separate URLs for different languages and to have the text itself contained within the page. Any advice from those of you who are in the same scenario and the approach you took would be greatly received. Not sure if there is something we can put in the config files to indicate our approach to the search engines or if its a case of increasing the scale of our site to separate out languages.
