My newly setup godaddy vps subdomain is showing directory index, but when I turn that off either via WHM and restart apache or via .htaccess, instead of seeing the directory contents I get an internal server error 500.

The .htaccess file has only line, an attempt to resolve this.

Options -Indexes

Can anyone advise a solution to this?
