We have a multilanguage website in english and french, where english is the main language (most visited).

I'd like to know the pros and cons of having our homepage to be .com, vs .com/en (using a 301 redirect) in terms of SEO.

Is it preferable to use .com in english as Homepage, and reserve the sub-folder for french only (.com/fr)?
