I have turned on all the spam registration countermeasures in the latest version of SMF for my forum, but am still receiving daily registrations that I believe are spam.
How is this happening? They seem to all come from email addresses using the .ru domain. I have set up high distortion captcha, and 17 different verification questions, of which the registrant must answer 3. The registration agreement says in all caps at the top:
"YOU MUST POST A MESSAGE BRIEFLY DESCRIBING YOUR INTEREST IN SCROLLING GAMES IMMEDIATELY AFTER REGISTERING, OR YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED AS A SPAM ACCOUNT."
Still none of the registrants are doing this, which leads me to believe they are spam.
Are SMF anti-spam measures weak -- are there ways around it? Or am I not using it right? Or is something odd going on here?
