I created a website for my client and now he asked me to migrate 40 of his company "mini-websites".
He is a reseller and he made a deal with other companies ( the ones that provides the products for his shop ) to use the brand name in his "mini-website" domain name.

Example :
brand1.com (the brand 1 website) - brand1.xy (my client mini-website).
brand2.de (the brand 2 website) - brand2.xy (my client mini-website)

Each mini-website have only one page with a short description of the brand(the one who provides the products), a link "Learn More" which redirect to my client's old website, and a list of all of the brand products that my client sell which redirect to the product page of my client's old website.

My client made this because the web agency who worked for him before me said that it could enhance the SEO.

When you type on google : brand [country of my client] , some of the mini-website show up on the first page.

My questions are :
Is it legit ? Is the main website's SEO penalized by these backlink ?
