I recently started getting this error in Google Search Console when submitting our sitemap.

Errors
Sitemap is HTML
Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

I use the Google XML Sitemaps plugin for WordPress to generate my sitemap.

Can someone please help me figure out why I am getting this error, and how to fix it?
