Six months after doing a site move from old.domain to new.domain site traffic still hasnt picked up and we still cant edit "Prefered domain" on new.domain within google webmaster.

As far as im aware site moving shouldnt affect traffic if its done perfectly (we followed an seo consultancies guidelines and they checked all was ok) but even if we had messed it up should google still be locking the "Preferred domain" and showing "Not all options are available because of a Change of Address request related to this site" over six months later?

We want to rule out the something hasnt gone awry on googles side somehow and we arent being unfairly demoted due to this process having not finished. I understand that traffic does dip after a move but then should pick up after a few weeks etc but ours never recovered.

We nor the consultancy has any idea why its locked like this and the traffic never recovered.

Is the locking of "Preferred domain" indicitive of the migration still being in progress? We were hoping a year on to potentially move to a .com sometime later next year as its become availble so would be unable to do this if it doesnt clear.

Any help appreciated.
