We have an website with domain name oldWebsite.com and this website has been revamped with new design and also given a new domain name (www.NewWebsite.com), now the developer was old domain to redirect website to the new domain NewWebsite.com.
there are two ways i can do that one is to use site forwarding feature of the domain itself (at domain level which is provided by domain registristrad such as goDaddy)
or i can do proper redirect using 301 redirect since i dont know what kind of forwarding or redirect godaddy or networksolution doesn't
My recommendation would be keep the current hosting and do 301 redirect for the old domain to new domain and also for the most popular URL let us say
oldWebsite.com/link1 www.oldWebsite.com/link2 oldWebsite.com/link3
this way we can properly redirect them to same content pages if they are available on the new website or it doesn't make any sense if new website doesn't have these popular page anymore.
What is the best approach from my grading old website to new website with new domain to maintain the site ranking & search engine ranking in the old site what is teh downsite fo using a new domain in this case as i was not aware that new website will be launched with new domain name.
any professional advice is appreciated
