Image restoration is the process by which a photograph is improved or perfected. This often results in removing scratches or blemishes, smoothing colors, improving contrasts, in addition to other visual enhancements. Restoration occurs when an image has been damaged or otherwise lost quality due to age or the simple fact it was originally a hard-copy photograph which has been scanned. Image restoration refers to removing image damage where ever possible and restoring the photograph to its original glory.
