I once saw page, maybe here or somewhere else, where person asked for a list of best proven layouts that work, and each for different columns, different placements of navs, and etc. He got a long list of stuff.

So can you please at least provide some best layouts possible for 1 column, 2,3...right nav top nav, bottom nav... etc.

I understand this question is broad and answer is wiki style. But you never know someone might actually have the knowledge.

Also, it will be great go-to reference material for web designers to go to and pick and play with different layouts in their heads quickly. There can be near infinite number of different layout where elements are randomly placed but some are proven to be best given how web is accessed and what is expected of it. So having a list of best layouts available to you give you a chance to start off right, and more energy available to invest in improving and tweaking it to suit your needs if necessary.
