Does there exists a bitmap image formats which support spot colors, andwhich can be used in a pdf file? It looks like neither tiff, jpg and png don't support spot colors.

This might sound like an odd question, but the use case is that our customers want to deliver rgb bitmap images to us which should be printed with 2 colors(Black and a blue spot color).

The rgb bitmap pictures we get contains a few different blue colors, and I would like to convert it to a bitmap picture with a spot color using different saturation values for each blue color in the source image.

But I have been unable to find any image format where I can save the result.

The only solution I found was to save the image as cmyk, and then tell the print shop that the c values, should really be printed using this specific spot color, instead of cyan.

This does work but it obviously makes the pdf look all wrong when the customer looks at it on a computer, because the screen will show cyan and not the spot color.
