I'm trying to create a 3D object from a 2D object using Illustrator CS6 > Effect > 3D > Revolve.

which is great.

However, I'm having trouble mapping a pattern:



onto the surface of the 3D object during the Revolve command. Using the defaults, and selecting Preview, I receive this:



I understand I need to adjust the angle amounts, but don't understand how, and even trialing differing amounts, the graphic doesn't wrap over the surface, it just displays like this:



No 3D revolution occurs.
