Working in illustrator.

Have a text element that I have applied some gradient coloring to, so that it shifts from grey to black and on to amber yellow. This transition is horizontal: from left to right.

Then I added a second fill, where I applied another gradient coloring scheme, shifting at a +80 degrees angle from light grey to black and back to light grey.

My question is this:

Is there a blending mode that I can apply to this second fill so that it prevails wherever the first fill is black, but does not affect the areas where the first fill is yellow?
