It depends on a whole bunch of variables that we can't account for:


typeface
type style
colors/contrast
height of menu
distance menu is from viewers
etc.


Best way to figure this out? Print out some samples, put them on the wall, and ask people to read them.

The font you choose should depend on the type of restaurant you run.
We need more information on this to help.

The font size also depends on the font itself:
fonts are designed to look good in a certain size.
Some are more appropriate in signs or menus than others.

I would choose the font according to the composition i make. Cause composition will change everything . If you use a blackboard concept i would go and look for COMIC and handwriting freehand fonts. In that case I'd use Uppercase all. But if its a classical fancy decoration it changes.
What is better to use simple but cute, non condensed and square layout fonts so it can be clearly read from far.
