Recently I completed a graphics job for a large client. It was long and stressful with multiple revisions daily. I finally got the sign off and notification that they are extremely happy and a notification that I'd be paid one month later. Much relief!
A week later I received notice that they need changes because part of the text was difficult to align on install. By this point I've moved on to other jobs and I'm not available. I provided them with the background artwork and a text template for another designer to redo. Didn't provide my working Photoshop and Indesign files.
2 weeks later, another designer made those changes but now my contract has been disputed and re-opened on their freelancers platform which basically boils down to: an open job doesn't get paid.
I have full record of all correspondence including screenshots of job sign off page etc.
I'm fully prepared to go to court if I have to but just wondered what argument they could use?

Read the terms and conditions on their freelancers platform. They might have the right to do this when you accepted the terms?
Generally it is not worth your energy, time and money to fight this. But if you are in your right, you could try and approach a debt recovery service (one that involves a “no recovery, no pay” requirement)
