I have English writings which need to be translated into Arabic, so I used Google Translate and it outputs the correct words in Arabic. However, when I copy and paste that into Photoshop, the text appears very strange and incorrect.
I have changed the formatting to the middle eastern and south Asia setting, but that only works when I open a completely new file. I want it to happen with an existing file. How can I do this?

You might be able to first enter the text in a new file, then after it is entered, right click on the text layer in the Layers panel and choose Duplicate Layer. Then in the Destination subsection, under the Document menu choose the file you want the text to appear correctly in (make sure you also have this file open at the same time). Maybe that will keep the formatting you need.
