I have drawn a path using the path tool but when I try to make a selection the selection is absolutely nothing like the path. I made a gif to show what I am doing:

The path is a little hard to see but it goes around the bee and the flower but the selection is just a small triangle in the bottom. I can't figure out what is going on.
