: Adobe Illustrator - SVG - Custom XML/Events I'm looking for the ability to add custom XML attributes and/or event types to the SVG output from Illustrator, without any post-processing. Illustrator
I'm looking for the ability to add custom XML attributes and/or event types to the SVG output from Illustrator, without any post-processing. Illustrator seems to have almost what I need. It has a window that lets us specify JavaScript code for various built-in events, but what I really need is to be able to specify code for non-standard "events".
This is not for the web. We have a custom program we run that can animate SVG diagrams, and there are different kinds of "events" we can invoke on it to animate it in different ways. (They're not actually events, hence the quotes, but for all intents and purposes they can be treated like events. It's an XML attribute with JavaScript code.)
With Inkscape we can do this pretty easily: it has a feature that lets us edit the XML directly. We can just add the "event" as a custom attribute. But it's desirable to be able to use Illustrator for this, because there are pockets of FUD over open source among our users.
Thanks.
P.S. I'm sorry but not sure which version of Illustrator. I'm not somewhere I can check.
