I'm hired to create a visual identity and illustrate a children's book series.
How should I go about charging and licensing my art work?

I have previous experience with branding, where I charge for the whole project. Should I take each part of the project i.e. the branding, and illustration separately - offer $Xxx for branding, deliver it, and then offer $Xxxx for the artwork that goes into the book?

I have no experience with licensing art work, so how should I go about that? Is it just me drawing up a contract based on my client's needs and what that would cost if they use my art work?
