There isn't really such a thing as standard, and the statistics are entirely dependent on target demographics. Aiming at technical people will generally result in better hardware and higher resolutions, less technical the reverse. But then there are phones, netbooks etc which have significantly lower resolutions than the norm in most cases.

For reference I usually assume a minimum of 1024x768 now.
