: /item/[0-9]* should do it. You can test it out by using the Find URL field at the bottom of the Top Content report (old analytics) or on the Site Content->Pages report on the new interface

Of course. In fact it can help you get indexed as Google will follow those links to your site. Also, if you can get quality links to your pages, it will encourage Google to index your pages quicker and more frequently.
