Content is the catch-all term used when talking about the information (text, images, video) that are displayed on a web site.

Content can be user generated as in articles posted by the users of the site. Examples would be Stack Exchange, Facebook, Twitter etc.

Content is curated when the administrators of the site review and edit the information before it is published.
