I think that Google doesn't look at all the meta tags, it look's at description but not keywords. But any way put meta tags (for other search engines and to make sure), but content helps Google (a good content is very good for Google), so put a bit of text, not image text and linking to other pages doesn't help.

But you will have to wait until Google's crawler scans your site. Could take a while.
