I'm in the process of building a website at a new domain. Although the site is not live, we've been using the email address for a couple of months to send emails to people we personally know.
A couple of people have told us our emails ended up in their junk/spam folder.
Today, I created a test MailChimp campaign the email went into my own junk folder. I checked the headers and they show this:
X-Spam-Flag: yes
X-Spam-Level:*****
So to be clear, none of the emails we've sent so far have been bulk mailings, and all of the personal emails have been normal messages.
Does anyone know how we've got a 5-star flag level?
And, more importantly, how do I fix this? Is it even possible to fix it?
UPDATE:
This question has been flagged as a duplicate of this one: How can I prevent my mail from being classified as spam?
However, my issue is that a 2-month-old email address that has only been used for personal emails (no spammy subjects or words) has been flagged. I've also checked the domain and IP against blacklists and it comes up clean.
First thing I'd like to understand is, based on the following list, why this would happen?
The sent emails have had no spammy/vulgar words or subject lines
The sent emails are all personal
We've sent less than 100 emails, all to individuals
The domain and IP are not blacklisted
