As a university professor, I feel like gathering my notes and create books (ebooks) out of them. I know LaTeX quite well but sometimes I feel like the placement of floats is not very well done automatically. Compiling the document each time to see the output is somehow painful too.

The books contain floats, source codes (should be syntax-highlighted), bilingual text (Persian and English) and modern layout. I can do this task with XeLaTeX but I would like to know if Adobe ID works too. Considering the learning curve of ID do you recommend me to give it a chance?

With LaTeX I normally put some time to form a proper style then I focus on writing, is the workfow with adobe ID comparable?
