GIMP cannot read .pdn files (the native file format created by the Windows Paint.NET program.)

I have some layered .pdn files. I do NOT have access to Paint.NET which created them, nor do I have access to a Windows box on which I can install it. (I have access to two Macs, and multiple *x flavors.)

Searching for a solution finds many suggestions to install various plugins to allow Paint.NET to save .psd files, but if I had a copy of Paint.NET to run I wouldn't be posting here.

There was a suggestion to look for a GIMP plugin but the registry is down and other searches have failed.

I know this is not an intractable problem, as I can install a Windows emulator to run Paint.NET and export the files, but I was wondering if there is a better solution available.

(The obvious easy solution is to rent access to a time machine and install GIMP on my Windows box a few years ago instead of using a locked format. If you've got a working time machine please contact me privately.)
