: How to show bounding box dimensions of Illustrator shape builder shape with lots of deletions? Note this is a very different question from Object dimensions change after filling with the Shape

Note this is a very different question from Object dimensions change after filling with the Shape Builder Tool/Paint Bucket Tool, which is about slight rounding errors.

I've noticed that when I make a shape builder shape that involves a lot of deletions around the edges, the dimensions of the final object, even when selected outside of the "shaper group" mode, include ALL the parts that were deleted.

Here you can see the object including the parts deleted with shape builder:

And here is the same object outside of shape builder (although I can't get the screenshot tool to show the squarish bounding box, but you can see what my point is).

The actual dimensions of the object are roughly half an inch by half an inch, as you can see by the rulers, but I can't seem to get those dimensions to show in the "transform" box.

How can I do this to allow for accurate numerical scaling?
