When I place a Word file that contains a table in InDesign it doesn't apply the custom table style I've created in Word.
In other words, although all the font styling comes across and the table cells have the right dimensions, the fills and borders of the cells aren't coming across, and the cells are simply white with a 1px black border.
Preserve Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables is checked in the Import Options.
We have an 80 page master document consisting mostly of tables, and the client wants to be able to edit the tables himself in Word and then simply update the links to create a new version of the master document for each project.
I have found if I save the Word file as a Word 97-2003 format (.doc instead of .docx) the table cell formatting comes through fine in InDesign, but when you add new rows to the table in Word it does not create banded rows (ie rows with an alternating background fill).
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
