I'm a newbie and am still learning about Pantone colours.

I am working on a project and have been given a Branding guide Adobe illustrator file which contains a number of colours and their PMS numbers (e.g. PMS 305, PMS 7417 etc). When I open the colour picker and check what RGB values are given they don't match the RGB values given when I look up the stated Pantone Colour on a 'Pantone to RGB' conversion table.

Am I missing something or are the colours in the AI file not actually correct according to the Pantone number stated?
