If you are just planning to just to host your portfolio, then you may use deviantart.com, but it depends on what sort of profile you want. If you are planning some independent platform, then WordPress will be better for you. It'll not only give you free hosting but a dashboard, inbuilt themes and a lot of other goodies.

Don't waste your money for hosting.
