I'm transferring a .com domain from GoDaddy to 1and1 (UK) and I'm wondering if anyone could tell me a likely timeframe for its completion? 1and1 say "up to 5 days", but that's pretty vague.

What's the usual amount of time after responding to the ACK request?

I have only transferred one domain and it was in the US. The transfer was to GoDaddy. It took around 48 hours for them to move everything. I don't know why it is so slow but it is. Make sure you have everything correct on both sides. To I know neither side for me did a good job explaining the process so I ended up losing two days where GoDaddy was waiting on the other company because I didn't tell them something I should have. You should no matter what have your site moved within that 5 days though.
