I'm new to Illustrator and had a few objects/shapes on the artboard that were filled in with colour and had stroke thickness (as shown in the "layers" tab). I think I may have accidently pressed something but all of a sudden the shapes lost all stroke thickness (basically just became paths) and the colour in my shapes disappeared. What can I do to get it back to the way it was?

Looks like you've gone into outline view. It's easy to fix, just hit CTR or CMD + Y to toggle between outline and normal view.
