If I create a new object with a tool, e.g. the rectangle tool, the object will be created with default fill and stroke colors and stroke style.

How to assign these same default values to an already existing object?

Note: I'm aware of a possible workaround, Paste-Style (Shift+Ctrl+V), but it requires an object with the default style already existing.

I've never used Inkscape before, but all I did was Google this and the fourth result said to do the following:

Draw a new object for which you need these defaults.
In the lower left corner click right mouse button above fill indicator and choose "Remove fill"
In the lower left corner click right mouse button above stroke indicator and choose "Black"
In the lower left corner click right mouse button above stroke width indicator (right after stroke color indicator) and choose "6"
Select this object.
Double-click the tool's icon (e.g. Rectangle), choose "Create new objects with: This tool's own style", then click "Take from selection"

From now on all new objects of that type will have no fill and
6px/pt/whatever stroke. You can do the same for other shape tools.

The directions above are to remove the object's appearance, but I'd imagine that if you instead change the appearance to what you want then it will work.
